MEMORIAL SERVICE INFORMATION

ALUMNI & MUSIC COLLEAGUE CHOIR

MEMORIAL SERVICE DETAILS:
SERVICE:  Saturday Sept. 24 at 3:00pm (organ and brass music will begin at 2:20pm)

LOCATION:  MO United Methodist Church (9th & Elm in downtown Columbia)

Note: There will be a reception/visitation following the service in the church's "connector"

Cremation is being handled by Parker-Millard Funeral Home (obituary can be found at:  http://www.parkermillard.com/); you are welcome to leave messages on this site

UPDATED SHUTTLE INFO:
Parking in the church parking lot is being reserved for the Hook Family and anyone with a mobility issue.  Please keep in mind that it is a Mizzou home football game that afternoon and parking will be at a premium downtown and near the church.

If you have any questions regarding the service, parking or the shuttles, you may call the church at 443-3111.

Shuttles will run from the EAST PARKING LOT of Hickman High School to the church. Shuttles will run from 11:30am until 3:00pm (time of the service). And then again from the end of the service until 5:30pm (or until everyone has been returned to Hickman).  First Baptist Church and Lee Elementary have also offered spaces in their small lots for anyone who does not mind walking a couple of blocks. Please keep in mind these shuttles will be vans driven by volunteers so plan accordingly.

MEMORIAL BOOK:  Marty & Sally's son, Benjamin, is compiling a book of stories, anecdotes and memories of Marty.  If you are interested in relaying these to the family you can post them to Marty's Facebook wall at this LINK. Or you can send a private message directly to Benjamin through his Facebook page HERE.

ALUMNI & MUSIC COLLEAGUE CHOIR DETAILS:

We are putting together a choir comprised of former students and music colleagues.  If you would like to participate, please fill out the Google Form, linked below.  It is imperative that we have a list of who is planning to attend to manage the logistics of this potentially very large choir.

Robin Steinhaus (current Choir Director at Hickman) & Mike Pierson (Choir Director at Rock Bridge) will be conducting all of us in singing a selection of four music pieces.  You can find PDFs of these pieces listed below.  We are asking you to rehearse these pieces on your own as much as possible prior to attending so we can rehearse more efficiently when we are together on the day of the service. We will bring copies of the music for anyone who is unable to bring their own.

PLEASE NOTE:  Per Sally's request, the piece "Walk Down That Lonesome Road" by James Taylor, arr. by the King's Singers (labeled below as simply "Lonesome Road") will be sung ONLY by Hickman Choir Alumni.

CHOIR REHEARSAL:  Saturday Sept. 24 @ 12:30pm at the church. The specific location within the church is yet to be determined. Once you arrive, hopefully there will be signs to direct you to the proper location.

DRESS CODE:  We are not requiring anything specific.  Please dress as appropriate for an occasion such as this.

Extra Rehearsal Option:  If you are local, there will be an additional choir rehearsal on Wednesday night (9/21) from 7:10pm to 7:45pm at the church. This will be a combined church choir rehearsal to sing through the music for Saturday's service.  You are welcome to attend (especially if you are unavailable for Saturday's rehearsal).

Please note:  If you are unable to attend any rehearsals, but are confident in rehearsing on your own, please feel free to join us to sing anyway.  Just be sure to tell us you are coming by filling out the Google Form.
